Paul Irvin Johnston, 63, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at West Park Hospital in Cody after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born April 25, 1948, in Thermopolis to Robert L. and Velma M. "Birdie" (Davis) Johnston. He graduated from high school in 1967. In the 1970s, Paul was a member of the Wyoming National Guard.

On June 21, 1980, Paul married Bobbie Knight in Cody. He recently retired from Webster Motors, Inc., in Cody after 35 years. Paul was a member of the Cody Shooting Complex, the ATA Trap Association, a lifetime member of the NRA and he earned the 2008 Western Grand National Singles Champion
for Trap Shooting. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, camping and traveling. He rode horses and helped at the Hoo Doo Ranch. Paul was also an avid bowler and a
pilot, and enjoyed playing cards. He was an artist and leatherworker. Paul loved spending time with family and friends and was a storyteller extraordinaire.

Survivors include his wife; mother; daughter, Paula (Brian) Markowski of Riverton; sons, Timothy Johnston of Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and Perry (Anna) Knight of
Billings, Mont.; siblings, Timothy Johnston of Worden, Mont., and Janet (Dave) Currey of Billings; sister-in-law, Billie-Renee Knight of Topeka, Kan.; five grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

Paul was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
