Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 at Burns Cemetery northeast of Trenton. Rev. Neill Morgan of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sherman will officiate and arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Luther was born July 6, 1941 in Mountainair, N.M., the son of John Glen Cline and Venia Belle Gilbreath Cline. He was employed by the Denison Cotton Mill until it closed for business and then worked at Burlington Cotton Mill in Sherman until it also closed. He then was employed by the City of Sherman and eventually retired as a worker in the street department. He married Nora Teague on June 29, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nev.
After Luther's retirement from the City of Sherman, he began a new career as an antique dealer. He loved to refinish antique furniture and had a location in the Touch of Class Antique Mall on the southwest corner of the square in downtown Sherman. In addition to selling antique furniture, he enjoyed refinishing furniture for family and friends. He had enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons as they grew up over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Dale Cline and Billy Glen Cline, a great-granddaughter, Hailo Boyd, and two nephews, Jacob Redding and Jeremy Craft.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nora B. Cline of Sherman; sons, Larry Cline of Denison, Johnny Cline and wife Kim of Bennington, Okla., Ricky Cline and wife Mary of Luella and Tim Cline and wife Heather of Sherman; grandchildren, Jaxon Cline of Sherman, Stephanie Ashby and husband K.P. of Bokchito, Okla., Tabitha Cline and Tiffany Cline and her husband of Bennington, Okla., Tonya Cline, Annie Cline and Chantelle Cline, all of Denison, Rick Cline and Misty Blasing and her husband Adam, all of Luella. great-grandchildren, Daren and Ashton Ashby, Brittany and Jesse Martin, Willie and Michelle Cline, Shyann, Mark and Camron Crisswell and Lonna Blasing; also numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. Thursday at Waldo Funeral Home.
