Ludowici - Retired Major Donald L. Giddens, 72, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at Vistacare Hospice in Atlanta after a short illness. He was born in Adel and had lived in Ludowici for 25 years until recently movimg to Nashville, GA. He retired from the U. S. Army with the rank of major after 22 years of service and received numerous awards, medals and commendations. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Nashville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Ethel Giddens and his siblings, Margie and Gerald.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Dean Giddens of Nashville, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Karra and Clay Harden of Greensboro, NC; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Karen Giddens of Bloomingdale, Joey and Teresa Harrison and Jeffery and Nicole Harrison of Ludowici; a step-son, Kevin Williams of Nashville, GA; a sister and brother-in-law, Winoa and Johnny Sewick of Comer, GA; 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Mpnday, January 16 at 2:00 P.M. from the Howard-Jones-Nobles Funeral Home with Rev Jackie Connell officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rye Patch Cemetery in Long County with full military honors.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, January 15 from 5-7 P.M. from the Howard-Jones-Nobles Funeral Home.
