Alonzo Leopold Hector was given a gift of 200 acres in 1873 by his parents, James P Hector and Ann Eliza Hector, and on July 2, 1874 with his father's consent and co-signer of the deed sold 2 acres "for cemetery purpose" for $40.00 in coin to Joshua Ratliff, James Dickey and James M Turley, Trustees. According to Plat Book Number 11, page 76 these two acres along with one acre each, more or less, previously donated by James M Turley and Andrew Jackson Hammett comprise the 4.02 acres in the "Old Cemetery".
