Mary M. Glassgo, was born in Glassgo, Ireland, Feb. 14, 1822 and came to America with her parents when about to years old, settling in Juniata Co, Pa.
In 1844 she was married to Alexander Jacobs. To this union 13 children were born, 8 sons and 5 daughters. 5 sons and 3 daughters are living, all of whom were present at their mother's funeral except the youngest, McCelian Jacobs, who is in British Columbia.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs came from Pa. to Illinois in 1856, settling on Pennsylvania Ridge where they have since lived. Mr. Jacobs died in 1872.
Mrs. Jacobs united with the Zions Evangelical Lutheran church by confirmation, Dec. 27, 1859 and has ever since been a devoted Christian, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in trouble. She died Dec 4, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 20 days.
Funeral services were held at the church, conducted by Rev. Velander, from Probv. 10:7. "The memory of the just is blessed" and the body tenderly laid to rest in Pennsylvania Ridge cemetery. Thus passes another old settler, another Christian mother, leaving many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. relatives and friends to mourn her loss while the saints in heaven rejoice in the arrival of one more companion to help them sing the praises of their God and their Redeemer.
