Eliza Ann Smith Dies In Hospital

RIGBY, Sept. 10. Eliza Ann Smith, 78, longtime Coltman resident died early Sunday morning at a Rexburg Hospital of cancer.
She was born Feb. 24 1884, at Butlerville, Utah, a daughter of Joseph and Matilda Ann Turpen Maxfield. She was married to Joseph R. Smith, June 26, 1906 at Butlerville. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple.
An Idaho resident for 49 years, she was active in LDS Church work and was president of the MIA and many auxiliary and teaching posts, including Relief Society.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Vinal J. Smith-and Arville R. Smith, both of Coltman; Dell Smith and one daughter, Mrs. (Gwen) Groom, Garfield; two brothers, Asa Maxfield, Salt Lake City; and Curt Maxfield, Idaho Falls; two sisters, Mr. G. F. (Matilda) Proctor and Mrs.Tony (Stella) Kemp both of Idaho Falls;
6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Services have been set for Wednesday at 2 p.m., from the Coltman LDS Chapel with Bishop Eldon Ward officiating.
Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery under the direction of the Eckersell Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends at the Coltman church from 12 noon until service time Wednesday.
