Warren Gerald Hildebrand, 85, of Mount Gilead died early Friday morning January 30, 2009 at the Morrow County Hospital Extended Care Facility.

He was born on May 23, 1923 in Mount Gilead the son of the late Paul W. and Susan L. (Hull) Hildebrand.

Warren was a lifelong resident of Mount Gilead and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He spent time stationed in Germany, where he learned Morris Code and was involved in communications, as a member of the 226th Antiaircraft Artillery Search Light Battalion. Shortly after his honorable discharge, he and Martha Ann Patterson were married at the Edison United Methodist Church Parsonage on April 24, 1946. They have been blessed with 62 wonderful together. For over ten years he owned and operated Marion Equipment. He and his sons, Thomas and Terry, were able to work side by side at the family business. He later worked as a general manager for Iberia Hytech until his retirement. Warren was a member of the Boundary United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Mount Gilead Masonic Lodge #206 F. & A. M. where he was a past Master Mason, the Mansfield Grotto, AmVets, and the VFW. He and Martha had a place on Lake Erie were he could fish uninterrupted for days. Warren was extremely intelligent and built what might be considered the areas first tractor for his son Terry.

He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father who will be missed by his wife Martha; their son Thomas and his wife Carolyn of Mount Gilead; and his granddaughter Amanda Hildebrand.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Terry Lee Hildebrand in 1987, his brother Herbert and his twin brother Orrin.

Funeral services will be held on Monday February 2, 2009 at noon at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 North Main Street, Mount Gilead, with Pastor Bob Johncox officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
