J. O. Raymond Dead -- A Well Known Stevens Point Lawyer and Member of Board of Normal Regents

Stevens Point, Wis., April 15--James O. Reynolds, a well known lawyer and member of the state board of Normal regents died here yesterday of diabetes coupled with an attack of pneumonia. Mr. Raymond was sixty-six years of age and has resided in this city since 1873. At the time of his death his firm was that of Raymond, Owen & Frost. He was district attorney for Portage county for three terms, and was local postmaster under Garfield and Arthur. He was appointed as the resident Normal school regent by Gov Upham in 1895, and was recently reappointed by Gov. Scofield. He served in Company C, forty-second Wisconsin in Missouri. He leaves one son, M. H. Raymond of the Merchants' bank of Rhinelander. His first wife was Mary E. Harris of Canton, O. She died at Plover in 1864. In 1867 he married his present wife, Mrs. Lucinda Hanchett of Plover, who was the widow of the late Luther Hanchett, member of congress. Mrs. Hanchett had two children, Mrs. A. W. Brown and James Hanchett of Rhinelander. To the second marriage no children were born. The funeral will be held from the family residence on Main street Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of the Masonic order, with interment at Plover.
