John Cornell "JC" Gary was the son of Rev. John Willie Gary and Sallie Ida Downing. He was born in Texas on May 26, 1924. He was known to also use the middle names Cameron and Charles.
JC had been a resident of Greenville since 1942, and drove a taxi for more than 40 years. He was a member of Family Worship Center Church of God in Greenville.
JC had nine siblings: Jodie Ray Gary, Dollie Marie Gary (Tatum), Tabatha Pauline Gary (Cole), Maudie Dean "Maudine" Gary, Willie Bell Gary (Burcham), Melvin Cleo Gary, Thelma Gary (Wolfe), William Thomas "Bill" Gary, and Claudius "Claudy" Gary.
