Mary Ellen Landers, a lifelong resident of California and a 36-year resident of Landers, died at home Dec. 22, 2008. She was 71 years old.

The daughter of Melvin Bantau and Priscilla Brooks Bantau, she was born Aug. 27, 1937.

She was married to Mark Landers for 44 years before he preceded her in death.

She is survived by son Marlin G. Landers of Palm Springs, daughter Robbin Rauschenberg of Yucca Valley, son-in-law Monte Rauschenberg of Yucca Valley, grandchildren Clint and Mijanou Rauschenberg of Yucca Valley, Neil and Holly Rauschenberg of Joshua Tree, Ryan and Autumn Bojorquez of Yucca Valley, Marlin Jr. and April Landers of Landers and Radley Landers of Yucca Valley, and great-grandchildren Markie, Cameren, Taylor, Walker and Ella Rauschenberg, Noah Bojorquez and Shania and Devin Landers.

Mrs. Landers worked in the cafeteria for Morongo Unified School District for three years. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and seeing all the children in the Yucca Valley Elementary School cafeteria. She also enjoyed gardening.

Services will be private.
