Dr. Walter Remsen Brinckerhoff was the son of Rev. Peter Remsen and Helen (Morton) Brinckerhoff. He was the husband of Nellie Mandana (White) Brinckerhoff. They were married August 21, 1906. Nellie died April 1, 1909.

BRINCKERHOFF.--Dr. Walter Remsen Brinckerhoff, the authority on leprosy, died of pneumonia today at his home. He was the first director of the leprosy investigation of the United States Marine Hospital Service at Hawaii. After serving there from 1906 to 1910 he became assistant professor of pathology in the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Brinckerhoff had also made special researches on the white cells of the blood, and had made an elaborate investigation of small-pox.
