Ruby W. McGee dies at age 101
FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Ruby Watson McGee, 101, of Franklin died March 9, 2008, in Bowling Green, Ky.
She was born Dec. 16, 1906, to Henry and Lockye Floyd Watson. She was the widow of Kirk McGee, who, with his brother, Sam, performed at the Grand Ole Opry for more than 50 years. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ona McGee Little; a grandson, Kirk Little; two sons-in-law, John Fly and J.W. Little; three sisters, Irene McGee, Myrtle Larkins and Ruth Swift; and three brothers, Albert, John Lytle and Jesse Watson.
Funeral is at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37203 or Happy Tales Humane, 230 Franklin Road, Franklin, TN 37064.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Fly of Bowling Green and Jean Harris and her husband, Bob, of Franklin; a brother, William Watson of Nashville; six grandchildren, John Fly and his wife, Mary, Lynn Whitmer and her husband, Tony, Christy Rodgers, Debi Blake and her husband, Bill, Mark Jenkins and his wife, Kathy, and Judy Little; and 12 great-grandchildren, Wesley, Evan and Elizabeth Blake, Alison Hoke, J.B. Fly and his wife, Katy, Paul Fly and his wife, Marty, Ashlee Rodgers, Leslee Prather, Colin and Chandler Jenkins and Maggie and Cameron Little; and a great-great-grandchild, Gabriel Fly.
