"Thomas Reynolds; born: 05 November 1753; West Greenwich…married: Mary Hoag; daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth Hoag; born: c. 1755; died: 02 November 1844; Lyons, Wayne County, New York…

"The records of Thomas, and the line that follows, is from a genealogy by Vera Sanders on file on the Reynolds Family Association archives. Vera Sanders' work gives Thomas' wife's name only as Mary, and gives her death date as 02 November ___. From records of Argyle, New York, there are the following entries:

"From book V, page 77, there was a removal certificate ‘17th of 7 mo. 1788' for friend Elizabeth Hoag, wife of Nathan Hoag – two daughters Susanna and Mary Hoag.

"Another record gives Mary Hoag Reynolds – wife of Thos. Reynolds, followed by Nehemiah Reynolds, Sr., born in Argyle, Aug. 20, 1786.

"From book 37 in 1799: Mary Reynolds formerly Hoag, Nehemiah Reynolds, Sr. – son of Thos. Reynolds and Mary. Nehemiah married Sarah Rogers of Hebron, N.Y.

"Another records states ‘Around 1819 Nehemiah Reynolds, Sr., and his wife and two children and his father and mother Thos. Reynolds and Mary moved from Argyle to the Township of Lyons, Wayne Co., N.Y., adjoining the Township of Sodus. They lived and died in the Township of Lyons. This Baptist church and cemetery tho in the Township of Sodus, was two miles from their farm home.

"Finally, a record gives ‘Mary Reynolds died in Lyons Nov. 2, 1844, age 89. This is a Bible Record.'

"This compiler feels that these records offer strong evidence that Thomas' wife, Mary's, maiden name was Hoag and she is listed as such herein."
