Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran church in Cass Lake August 20 for Gordon Albert Church who died unexpectedly the 17th. Rev. H. O. Peterson officiated and burial was in Pine Grove cemetery. Mr. Church was born at Staples and was brought by his parents to Cass Lake in infancy. He was a railroad employee and at the time of his death was foreman of the roundhouse at Cass Lake. His wife was formerly Lila Thias of PInewood. She and four daughters, three brothers, two sisters and a grandchild survive. (Great River Country News, Aug 1960)
