John A. Habel, 90, formerly of 106 Sante Fe Street, LaVale, died Feb. 28 at Lions Manor, Cumberland, after an illness of one month. Born in Meyersdale, he was a son of the late William H. and Emma F. (Troutman) Habel. His wife, Zillah J. (Gobbons) Habel, preceded him in death.
A retired B&O Railroad machinist, he was a member of Meyersdale Lodge 554 F & AM, Antioch Commandery 6 Knights Templar, York Rite Salem Chapter and was a member, past recorder and past commander of Knights of Malta.
Surviving are a brother, Harry F. Habel, Meyersdale; a sister, Mrs. Emma F. Rowe, Meyersdale; a niece and a nephew.
Services were conducted March 1 at Hafer Chapel of the Hill Mortuary, LaVale with the Rev. Merle Correll officiating. Interment followed in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
