Marguerite Janette Arndt passed away on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008.

She was born on Nov. 2, 1922, in Dixon, Ill., and was the daughter of the late Morris L. and S. Ellen Myers Rosbrook.

She graduated from Dixon High School in 1940 and married Richard Woodyatt in 1944. He was killed in action during World War II.

In June 1950, she married Richard "Dick" Arndt, who preceded her in death Dec. 28, 2001.

Marguerite was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church where she was a Cub Scout den mother, member of many circles, a choir member and also was a charter participant of the Volunteer Meals on Wheels for 20 years.

Marguerite's survivors include three sons,one daughter, one granddaughter, two great-granddaughters, two sisters, two brother-in-laws, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at 11 a.m. with David Nelson Officiating.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA P.O Box, 413, Harrisonburg, VA 22803; RMH Hospice, 235 Cantrell Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22801; or Muhlenberg Lutheran Church, 281 E. Market St., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

Air Medal Award
for Sgt. Woodyatt

Staff Sergeant Richard E. Woodyatt, a member of the Army
Air Corps, missing in action, has been awarded the Air Medal with one oak leaf cluster, which will be presented to his wife. Mrs. Margaret J. Woodyatt. who resides at H Monroe avenue this city.

The presentation will take place at the residence of Mrs. Woodyatt at 3:30 Friday afternoon and will be presented by Lieut- Gilbert L. Klecha, Seventh Army Air Forces.

South Central Pacific, now stationed at Chanute Field, and Capt. G. M. Tomlinson. commanding: area E. district Iso. 3, Sixth SC now stationed in Moline. Upon orders from the commanding officer, district No. 3. Sixth SC, Chicago.

Staff Sgt. Woodyall was awarded the medal "for exceptionally meritorious achievement, while participating-in ten separate bomber combat missions over enemy occupied Continental Europe.

The courage coolness and skill displayed by this enlisted man upon these conditions reflect great credit upon himself and The armed forces of the United States."
