W. D. Herron, 71, Aiken Dies
Aiken, March 31 - (Special) - William D. Herron ,71, of 17 Columbia Drive, died at the Aiken County Hospital Thursday evening after four year of declining health and six months' serious illness.
A lifelong resident of Aiken County, Mr. Herron was the son of the late Elijah and Alice Jordan Herron. He farmed many years but recently was associated with several lumber companies as a timber cruiser. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Frank Meeks of Aiken and Mrs. Jack McCarthy of Lillington, N. C.; six sons, Otto of Columbia, Wyman and Emmett B. of Aiken, Wilbur of Warrenville, Milton of Harrisburg, Pa. and W. D. Herron Jr. of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Stokes Goss and Mrs. Emmie Knecce both of Philadelphia, Pa.; 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
