Mr. Bridges was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Singers Glen and was the son of the late Ephraim and Orpha Keister Bridges.
Sammy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired truck driver.
In March of 1963 he married Agnes Lam, who preceded him in death in 2001.
He is survived by one daughter, one stepson, three grandsons, two great-grandchildren, four brothers, one sister, and a special friend.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening at the Mitchell residence, 359 E. Elizabeth St., Harrisonburg, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Burial services will be private.
