Richard D. Ankney

Richard D. Ankney , 66, of 319 E. Seventh St., Sycamore, died at 4:30 a.m. Monday in his home. He was born in Crawford County to John K. and Ollie (Reinhart) Ankney. He married May 5, 1956, to Marylin J. (Rein) who survives. Also surviving are two children Mrs. Edward (Melodie) Clark of Sycamore and Michael A. Ankney of Sycamore, two step grandchildren and five grandchildren. A brother Kenneth W. Ankney, preceded him in death July 24, 1993. Mr. Ankney owned Ankney Upholstery and Ankney Crafts and had worked at General Electric of Tiffin for four years. He retired as rual mail carrier for Sycamore and McCutchenville after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Sycamore United Church of Christ, where he was a member of the Excelsior Sunday School Class, past president and member of Consistory and past youth advisor for the church. He was a member of the Board of Mohawk Historical Society, National Rural Letter Carrier's Association , Sycamore American Legion Post 250 formerly Cub Scout master of Sycamore Cub Scout Pack 118 Committee for the Wyandot County Sesquicentennial Celebration, Committee for the Village of Sycamore's Sesquicentennial Celebration, Enterprise Lodge 579 F&AM, Sycamore of which he was past worship master the lodge, and past advisor for Sycamore DeMolay. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the Navy, he was a 1947 graduate of Sycamore High School. Funreal services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Sycamore United Church of Christ. The Rev. Lon McSherly will officiate with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Sycamore American Legion Post 250.
Friends may call at the Walton-Moore Funreal Home, Sycamore, Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The body will lie in state from 10-11a.m. Thursday at the church before the service. Masonic services will be at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sycamore United Church of Christ of Mohawk Historical Society.
