JOHN IVAN REEVES, age 76, Taylor Drive, Cynthiana, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. A native of Nicholas County, he was born April 3, 1932 to the late J. A. "Gus" Reeves and Dora Mullikin Reeves. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Alan Reeves and a sister, Dorothy Reeves Ashbrook. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty seven years, Ruth McCauley Reeves; a daughter, Jan Evans Reeves-Harris, Cynthiana; a precious grandson, Caleb Mark Harris, Cynthiana; a sister, Lillian Pierce, Paris; an aunt, Betty Reeves, Mt. Olivet and special nieces, Peggy (Lemuel) Arnold, Cynthiana, Carolyn Brannock, Cynthiana and Patsy (Allen) Waugh, Lexington.

Mr. Reeves was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War. He retired from Farmers National Bank as vice president after serving forty-three years. He was a member of Indian Creek Christian Church and lifelong member of the Cynthiana Elks Lodge #438.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday at Ware Funeral Home by Rev. Wayne Spivey and Bro. Allen Waugh. Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. Friday. There will be an Elk's Lodge service at 6:00 P.M. Thursday at Ware Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cynthiana Baptist Church, Indian Creek Christian Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Garrison, Noel Hughes, Billy Joe Taylor, Danny Smiley, Richard Wilson, Mark Reeves, Brad Marshall, Charles Switzer, J. Frank Marsh, Kenny Ross, Rees Marshall, Dr. Frank Mckemie and Herald Kendall.
