Hubbard Hercules Davis is the son of Caesar Augustus "Gus" Davis and Ruth Elizabeth Hayden.
He is a brother to Sophia Elizabeth Davis Foster, John A Davis, Mary Ella Davis and Jennie C Davis McLaury.
His father served the Confederacy as a Private in Co A, NC 34th infantry and was captured and imprisoned at Point Lookout where he died in 1864. Hubbard and his older siblings then went to live with their father's brother in Horse Pasture, VA. By 1880 Hubbard was again living with his mother in Davie county, NC.
He married Mary Alice Clement and they are the parents of John D, Robert L, Edna A and Hattie M Davis.
