Nancy (nee Miller) Sisco

On 27 Aug 1793 Hugh Miller married Mary Good in Knox County, Tennessee. It appears that Hugh Miller was living in the south west part of Knox County that later became Roane County, Tennessee. Nancy Miller was born about 1800. Hugh was still living in Roane County, Tennessee, in 1802, two years after Nancy Miller is thought to have been born.

1986 / 1989 Sandstone Monument

The headstone for Nancy (nee Miller) Sisco, her husband Thomas Sisco, her father Hugh Miller and Mary Miller, is not an old headstone. It appears that this headstone was carved in about 1986 by a descendant.

From a 1986 letter:
"I have located the grave of Hugh Miller and his wife and his daughter Nancy and her husband Thomas Sisco. They are buried on private property and I am in the process of carving a tombstone (literally) for them! I am using a sandstone found at the burial site which measures 3 feet long, 18 inches wide and 4 inches thick. It's slow going, but I hope to have it done this summer."

The carving of Hugh Miller's sandstone monument is finished and the monument was installed.

1841 Note

Hugh Miller 1841 note to his daughter Lucinda (nee Miller) Hubbard.

"To show the age and death of your Mother. She was born the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and ninety and died the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and forty-one. She was taken ill on Sunday the twelfth of September and deceased on the twenty-first of the same month, which was the tenth day of her illness. Was taken ill at morning of the twelfth and died on the twenty-first in the evening. Her complaint was, she said, cold, with inward fevers. She said she, Left this world in peace and that her Jesus was with her."

At about 1 1/2 miles from Osage the road takes a sharp turn left (northeast).
At about 1 5/8 miles from Osage the road takes a sharp turn right (southeast).
At about 2 1/4 miles from Osage 933 crosses Osage Creek.
Cross Osage Creek and park at gate on the left (north side of Osage Creek).
Ramsey Cemetery is 1/3 of a mile north-northeast in a grove of trees.
