Inscription

The above layout of Christian 1st cemetery located in Locust valley Maryland Just north of Burkittsville as it looked in 1967. When I Found it in the spring of 2008 the small trees shown in the picture were now very large trees. If you travel route 17 south of Middletown and turn right on Quebec school road and follow it to where it ends at marker road, from that intersection looking do south and to the left of marker road follow the tree line from marker to the point and Christian and family are buried at that point. Beside the cemetery is a foundation of a large bank barn and in that grove of trees were two other foundations of buildings. Below the two foundations was a stream that would have provided water for the family and livestock.

The stone has C H M D E
scribed with OCTR THE 26 1816
The inscription probably represents
Christian Harshman Departed October The 26,1816
