James Everette "Jim" Davis Jr., 61, of Petersburg, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va.

Mr. Davis was born Feb. 15, 1947, in Pocahontas County, W.Va., and was the son of his Mother and the late James Everette Davis Sr.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Brake Church of the Brethren and an equipment operator with MeadWestvaco.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, stepfather, three brothers, five sisters, two grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at the Brake Church of the Brethren near Petersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Craig Howard officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the grandchildren, c/o Scott & Ronda, 201 Cherry Ave., Grottoes, VA 24441.
