Mrs. Henry L. Giltner Dead

Mrs Laura Hopkins Giltner, widow of the Confederate chieftain, Col Henry L Giltner, died at her home in Eminence Tuesday, December 14. She had been stricken with paralysis about ten days before, her entire right side being involved. She was absolutely helpless from the first to last and most of the time unconscious.

Mrs Giltner was a great woman -- great in character, broad in comprehension, sound in judgement, strong in executive ability. When she became a widow, 25 years ago or more, great responsibilities devolved upon her, but she assumed them bravely and discharged them admirably. She had had one child of her own, now Mrs Mary Giltner Robinson, but she was a loyal mother to the children of Col Giltner, born of a previous marriage.

She was expert as a stenographer and bookkeeper and held som important positions. When we first knew her she was a stenographer and confidential secretary to Hon James W Blackburn, Collector of Internal Revenue in this district, with offices in Louisville. By a remarkable coincidence she and Mr Blackburn ___ almost simultaneously.

For about 12 years she ___ ____ associated with Giltner Bros ____ the Eminence Milling Co. _____ business of the two concerns being managed from the same office. She was at her post of duty when stricken.

Mrs Giltner was a Presbyterian, having a very intelligent _____ _____ much consecration. Funeral services were conducted Rev J. W. __felter, of Bardstown, a former ______ .
