Mrs. Lydia Caradine, 81, former Albany resident, died at her home at Monroe Sat. evening. She had suffered several strokes and had been confined to her bed for three months. Mrs. Caradine had been in poor health since June.
Funeral services were conducted Tues.. afternoon at the Shriner-Nuenschwander funeral home at Monroe by Rev. D. A. Parker of the Union church, Monroe. burial was at Greenwood cemetery.
Mrs. Caradine was born in Adams township, Jan. 26, 1861, a daughter of Albro and Elmira Hurlburt Crowell, who came to Green county from Wyoming county, New York om 1841. she was married to Dr. W. H. Caradine in Albany in 1886.
the Caradines lived in Albany until 1899, when they went to Monroe where Dr. Caradine practiced dentistry as well as the carpenter's and architect's trades. He received contracts for erection of large buildings in different parts of the state. In Monroe he built the Citizens bank building, the Fitzgibbons building and the Henry Wells block. He died in 1921.
Mrs. Caradine was a member of the Union church and the Women's Relief Corps. Surviving are two sons, Dr. H. B. Caradine, Monroe; Dr. W. H. Caradine, Moline, Ill., a brother, Jesse Crowell, Portland, Oregon, and twin sisters, Mrs. Bertha Vail, Hawarden, Iowa, and Mrs. Blanche Connors, Albany; and three grandchildren. the twin sisters are believed to be one of the oldest living duos in the United States. they celebrated their 86th birthday in October, 1941.
Besides her husband, a daughter, Adell, died in 1904, another Elva, in 1926, and a son Norris, in 1908.
