Born Sept. 4, 1944, in Barren County, Ky., he was the son of Helen Frances Stinson Franklin and the late Guy T. Franklin. He was a graduate of Coal Creek Central High School.
On May 12, 1973, he married Louan Jenkinson, and she survives.
Mr. Franklin retired from Raybestos Products Inc. after 40 years where he worked in production set-up.
He was a member of New Richmond Christian Church, Wabash Club, Senior Bowling League of Crawfordsville, Linden Conservation Club and Hilltop Archery Club, attending the Royal Archer Competition in New York. Mr. Franklin was also an assistant Boy Scout Leader and a volunteer with the Special Olympics. He was an avid fisherman, loved being outdoors and loved to hunt mushrooms.
Surviving are his wife, Louan Franklin of New Richmond; mother, Helen Franklin of Lebanon, Tenn.; son, James Clayton Franklin (wife: Jody) of Darlington; daughter, Tammy Franklin of Lafayette; brother, Richard Franklin (wife: Shirley) of Hayworth, Ill.; sister, Pat Gross of Lebanon, Tenn.; special cousin, David "Short" Short (wife: Sue) of New Richmond; and 6 grandchildren.
