EVELYNE MCCLURE JOHNSON

Evelyne McClure Johnson, age 84 of Abilene, formerly of Breckenridge, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in a health care facility in Breckenridge. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 9th at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Jim Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Sarah Evelyne McClure was born on May 24, 1925 in Olney, Texas to parents Bartalmus Talmadge McClure and Rose Elizabeth Baxter McClure. She moved from Olney to Graham, Texas as a child where she graduated from Graham High School in 1943. After high school she worked at the Eliasville State Bank, later returning to Graham to work for Graham National Bank. Evelyne moved to Breckenridge in 1946 from Graham to work for First National Bank. Evelyne married C. E "Buddy" Johnson on August 23, 1946 in Austin, Texas. In 1980, She retired as manager of Graham Savings and Loan in Breckenridge. Evelyne enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading, as well as canning vegetables from her garden. Evelyne was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Evelyne is survived by her husband, C. E. "Buddy" Johnson of Abilene; two daughters, Janet and husband, Mike Dawkins of Abilene and Nancy and husband, Mike Bode of Breckenridge; two sons, Eddie and wife, Barbara Johnson of Baytown and David Johnson of Abilene; six grandchildren, Ginger R. Bode McWilliams and husband, Robby of Leander, Amber D. Bode Boase and husband, Troy of Stephenville, Heather R. Bode, also of Stephenville, Dakota Dawkins of Abilene, Ronna Johnson Ford and husband, Mike of Baytown, Russell Johnson and wife, Tammy of Baytown; eight great grandchildren, Alyson Rose McWilliams and Carolyn Sage McWilliams, both of Leander, Rainey Denise Boase and Madisyn Dawn Boase, both of Stephenville, Ariel Johnson and Cera Johnson, both of Baytown and Matthew Ford and Mindy Ford of Baytown.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and may be left at Morehart Mortuary.
