The body of Myrtle Ima (Daisy) Starnes, 18 years of age, of Smith Bottom, was found floating in the quarry two miles south of Russell Springs, just off Hwy 35 (now 127) by County Judge J.B. Stephens, County Attorney Leonard Wilson, Sheriff A.G. Dunbar, Deputy John Bailey, J.B. Sullivan and Walter Stephens.
The body was recovered early the next day by H.E. Pruitt

A jury from Cumberland County returned a verdict of two years imprisonment for Joe Stant Grider, charged of killing Daisy Starnes last January. Daisy was found floating in the rock quarry near Russell Springs.
