GUST JOHNSON PASSES AWAY FIRST OF WEEK

Gust Johnson died at his home in Holyoke Sunday afternoon, following an illness of several weeks.

Mr. Johnson had been in ill health for a number of years, but had seemed stronger than usual for some time before his last illness.

Mr. Johnson was elected a town trustee at the town election two years ago and held that office at the time of his death.

Mr. Johnson was born in Sweden, March 30, 1855, and came to this country alone at the age of fifteen. He was united in marriage to Miss Kittie Austin September 8, 1885, in Indiana. He was one of the pioneers of this community, having located here in 1887. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Philip Heilman of Holyoke, and Mrs. W.R. Hays of Sioux City, Iowa, and four grandchildren. Mr. Johnson united with the Lutheran church when fourteen years old.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the family residence, Rev. F.E. Gray of the Baptist church, conducting the services. The municipal power plant closed during the services. The remains were laid at rest in the Holyoke cemetery.
