Gertrude "Gertie" Colclasure (1901-1939) married 1918 to (1) James Howard (1900-1929), who died in a mine explosion in Oklahoma. At his death, he was listed as the father of five children. They were: Martin; Jewell Dean (aka Geraldine); Margaret; Bobbie Jean; & Gilbert Howard.

Gertrude married Sebastian Co., Arkansas in 1936 (2) Burl King Ray (1901-1937). Burl & Gertrude had no children, but her HOWARD children took the name of RAY for a time. [Family Records, Obituary, Censuses, etc.]

Death of Gertrude Ray

Mrs. Gertrude Ray, 37, of 1840 White Avenue, died yesterday in a local hospital after a brief illness. She was a native of Arkansas and had lived in Fresno for the past four years.

Surviving her are two daughters, Geraldine and Bobby Jean Ray; two sons by a former marriage, Martin and Gilbert Howard, all of Fresno; her mother, Mrs. Almeda Colclasure, Fort Smith, Ark.; three brothers, William and Raymond Colclasure, Fresno, and Gladis Colclasure, Fort Smith, Ark.; and three half sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Bond, Los Angeles; Mrs. Maggie Montoya, Florence Colo., and Mrs. Grace Stafford, Bakersfield.

Funeral rites were conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Stephens & Bean, with Rev. Charles Pepper officiating. Burial was in the Mountain View Cemetery.

Funeral services were held this Monday afternoon at two o'clock in the chapel of Stephens & Bean, Rev. Charles Pepper officiating. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery.
