Dorothy Merle "Dot" (Davis) Hinton was born May 22, 1910, in Seminole, Okla., to Della (Watts) Davis and Pascal Lee Davis. She received her Bachelor of Arts and her Master of Arts degrees in Education from the University of Oklahoma. She taught in schools in Oklahoma, Washington, D.C., and Jackson. In 1945, she married Mallory Hinton. They lived in Jackson until moving to Columbus in 1956. She was proud that she was descended from pioneering families of Oklahoma and Texas. All of her life, she had a special love for all children, for her family, and for promoting education.
