"Rev. LOVEL BUCKLEN STARR.- (son of Paul 734, Timothy 733, Comfort 724. Comfort 723, Comfort 722. John 10. Dr. Comfort 1,) b. Sept. 24, 1821, at Gerry. N. Y.: became a Christian in his youth, and his life was one of consistent devotion to his Master's service to the end. In Oct., 1844, he went to Canada, and devoted two years to study and teaching, while ever active in Christian effort; in 1845 was licensed to preach the gospel, and in Oct., 1846, ordained a Free Will Baptist minister; studied theology in the F. W. Biblical School at Whitestown, N. Y.; in 1850 was called to the pastorate in Plainfield, which he held for three years; then at Villanovia three years; thence at Cherry Creek, East Randolph, East Concord, Byron, and four years at East Hamlin; in 1865 removed to Gerry, working the farm with his father for two years, while supplying the church at Villanovia, followed by pastorates at Potter, Middlesex, Bethany, and finally at Dale, Wyoming Co., N. Y., where, after an illness of about nine mouths, closing his faithful labors on earth, happy and resigned, he d. Aug. 18, 1875. "As a preacher he possessed far more than ordinary talent; as a companion, warm-hearted and genial; as a friend, true and faithful ; as a Christian, devoted, ardent, and zealous ; as a pastor, successful and beloved. His labors were attended by revivals and activity in the churches to which he ministered, and large additions were made unto them." (also listed wives & children)
