Aiken, May 26— (Special)— Julian B. Salley, Sr., 73. prominent attorney and former mayor of Aiken died in the Aiken county hospital at 7:20 tonight after an illness of about two weeks.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o'clock Monday morning in Bethany cemetery at Aiken by the Rev. M. J. Kippenbrock.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eulalie Chafee Salley; one daughter, Mrs. Eulalie Rutledge of Aiken; one son, Julian B. Salley, Jr, of Aiken; one brother, Charles Salley of Salley; and two grandchildren, Salley Rutledge and Sara Elizabeth Salley.
Mr. Salley, a native of Aiken county, was graduated from The Citadel in 1899 and received his law degree from the University of South Carolina law school. He was engaged in the private practice of law in Aiken from 1902 to 1924. In that year, he joined the firm of Henderson and Salley. He was the attorney for the county of Aiken and for many of the principal corporations doing business in the county. He also served a host of private clients. He served three terms as mayor of the city of Aiken some years ago and was a past president of the Aiken chamber of commerce.
