Alice Tardif married Joseph F Gagnon in 1905. They had six children before Joseph died of pneumonia in 1915. This first child was stillborn and the last daughter, Cecile Marie, was born 5 months and six days after he passed.

Alice would continue to live with Joseph's family and married his younger brother Damase Gagnon in 1917. They were married just over 15 months when Damase died from Spanish Influenza once again making Alice a widow.

Joseph and Damase Gagnon's oldest sister, Mathie Gagnon St Onge, also died from Spanish Influenza 9 days early. Both Alice and Paul would stayed with the Gagnon family after the untimely deaths of their spouses. The widower Paul St Onge, married the widow Alice Tardif Gagnon on February 17, 1919. This would keep the Gagnon - St Onge - Tardif children and families unified.
