Achel E. Cato, 90 of Searcy, passed from this life on January 5, 2012. He was born September 18, 1921 in Gravel Hill, Arkansas to the late William Cato and Florence West Cato. Mr. Cato was a 32 Degree Mason; a member of the Center Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon; a charter member of the Searcy Optimist Club; and a member of the Searcy Golf Club. He was a World War II veteran serving under General George Patton's 3rd Army Field Artillery. In his younger years he loved traveling, fishing and hunting quail. He could be found on the golf course most days and had been awarded trophies for scoring a "Hole in One" on two different occasions.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, William "Bill" Cato and wife Becky of Searcy; three grandchildren, William Cato, Jr; Jason Cooper; Joshua Cooper; three great grandchildren, Colin Cooper; Eli Cooper; James Oliver Cooper; sister, Trula Mendonca and husband Bill of Searcy; brother, Eldon Stracener and wife Mary of Searcy; special friend, Leona Tilley; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death are his parents; stepfather, P.G. Stracener; wife, Eddie Mae Cole Cato; brother, Don L. Stracener; and sister, Ethel O'Dell Cato.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home with visitation at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow at White County Memorial Gardens.
