Henry Douglas Carpenter is the son of Robert Shanklin Carpenter and Lucy Jane Goode. Henry married Mary Belle Johns on March 16, 1884 and had nine children = Myrtle Grace, Lena Ethel, Elias Franklin, Joseph Shanklin, Earl Clayto, Martha Edna, Mary Elfa, Vada Belle, Nellie Mae.


Obituary

Henry D. Carpenter died at his home in Bismark township on March 15, after a painful illness.

The following sketch of his life has been furnished:

Henry D. Carpenter was born Nov. 7, 1855, was converted in 1885, backslid and was reclaimed in the fall of 1907. During his sickness, he told his wife to write to his mother that he was prepared to die and tell her to meet him in Heaven. He leaves a wife and three children.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. J.W. McNally, assisted by Elder Leo Anthis, last Sunday afternoon at the home. The text was taken from the last clause of Proverbs 14:32.

The remains were followed by a large procession to the Pleasant Valley Cemetery where the body was laid.
