Van Brown returned with honor to our Heavenly Father on January 3, 2012.
He was born on January 19, 1932. To B. A. Brown & Mildred VanNatta Brown of West Jordan, Utah. His parents have preceded him in death.
Van attended Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah, graduated in 1951. He served his country during the Korean conflict. He returned home from active duty to take over the family farm in West Jordan, Utah. He farmed the original homestead until 1976. After selling the farm in West Jordan, he then purchased and farmed land on the Utah-Idaho border.
He married his sweetheart Alyce Marie Bush on November 2, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. His last words to her were "You are the light of my life."
Van is survived by his wife Alyce, his children: Lee Van (Jody Bunker) Brown, Lisa Marie Brown (James) Matthews, and D.L. Brown; three wonderful sisters, Patricia Brown Jensen wife of the late Carlos Jensen, Farrel Brown, and Nola Brown (Christopher) Stirling; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces who adored him.
He had a gift to make people laugh as well as make them feel as if they were the most important person he had met.
In his later years he loved doing temple work, being in service of the Lord and his fellow man.
Van Brown was my hero, my beloved husband, my father, the greatest brother, a wonderful grandfather, my great-grandfather, my great-great-grandpapa, and my best friend.
This is a man who will be greatly missed. B. Van Brown you are loved!
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Valley 5th Ward, 5735 South Crestwood. Friends may visit family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Whites Fort Cemetery, West Jordan.
