TRIMOUNTAIN - Geraldine Karppinen, 87, of Trimountain, died on Monday, January 2, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Trimountain.

She was born November 23, 1924 in Flint, a daughter of the late George Arthur and Gladys (Goff) Cronover.

Gerry worked at the former Twin City Style Shop in Hancock, the former Pamida store in Houghton and was a greeter at Walmart where she enjoyed talking to everyone that came into the store.

On August 6, 1946, she was married to William "Bill" Karppinen in Angola, Ind. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2006.

Gerry's love for her family and friends was evident in the way she lived her life.

Surviving are two daughters, Joann Goulette of Laurium and Karen Karppinen of Trimountain; three grandsons, Joseph (Cara) Goulette of Laurium, Jeffrey (Missy) Goulette of Laurium and Jason (Dianne) Goulette of Mohawk; six great-grandchildren, Easton, Paxtyn and Quinn Goulette and Ila, Landen and Jaelyn Goulette; two brothers, Harry (Pat) Cronover of Traverse City and James (Ginni) Cronover of Byron Center, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Raymond (Dorothy) Karppinen of Grafton, Wisc.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Pat Hanner and family.

Besides her parents and husband, Gerry was also preceded in death by six brothers, Vernon, Bruce, Arthur, Glen, Ortie and Frank; and a son-in-law, Joseph Goulette.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012, in the Mountain View Mortuary, 14 Seventh St., South Range with Rev. Laura Eaton of the Episcopal Church in Calumet to officiate.

burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.
