He received a geology degree from Texas Tech University in 1956 and was employed across the county by United Nuclear Corp. He was a 25 year employee of the New Mexico Highway Department, taking part in the construction of I-40.
He was a member of the McKinley County West Fire Department since 1987, he retired as chief after receiving numerous awards. He was an avid fisherman and outdoors man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar & Neva Martin, sister Doris Martin, brother Robert "Bob" Martin, and twin Raymond Martin, grandson Burton Martin, and granddaughter Randilee Martin.
He is survived by his wife: Dorris R. Martin, sons Randel L. Martin, Jr., William "Bill" B. Martin and David Martin.
