He was a Col. in the Civil War for the Confederacy. He lived in Alabama before coming to Oklahoma.His first wife's name was Parthena Kansas Smith. She was the Mother to Joseph Anderson Edwards b.1859 & William C. Edwards b,1861.

1863 Alabama, Civil War Service Records of Confederate Soldiers 1861-1865 for William H. Edwards states he was in the 49th infantry in 1863

Died. At his home in Illinois Bend, Montague county, Texas, on the 5th inst, Mr. W.H. Edwards. The deceased was the father of W.C. Edwards, formerly of this place but now of Saint Jo, Texas. The remains were interred at Marysville Cook County, Texas on the 6th inst with Masonic honors. Deceased had been a member of the Baptist Church, and Masonic fraternity for many years. He was about seventy years of age, but had been afflicted severely for several years.

Gravesite Details

2012 The cemetery was well kept. Very sweet cemetery with beautiful trees around it.The grave stone is getting hard to read & is deterating
