Company K, 338th Infantry
Machine Gun Company, 77th Infantry
US Army
WORLD WAR I
He was drafted from Brown County, WI, and inducted on 28 May 1918. He was supposed to embark from New York, NY, aboard the SS Minnekahda, on 21 Jul 1918. The ship's manifest states that he was "left at Camp Custer" because he was a contact to measles. Camp Custer was a WWI training base near Battle Creek, MI. He never made it to France. He was honorably discharged on 28 Jan 1919.
The inscription on his headstone is incorrect. It was his nephew, Lester Hussin, who served in the 109th Infantry.
