Edward McClendon Passes After Long Illness.

Edward Monroe McClendon, member of one of LaFayette's most prominent families, passed away at his home here at 4:30 A. M. last Friday following an illness of seven years. He was 35 years of age. Funeral services were held from the Rock Springs Baptist Church near here at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, April 4, with the Rev. B. B. McGinty and the Rev. V. M. Gardner officiating. Burial was in the churchyard cemetery with Cutler conducting. Pallbearers were Webster McRae, Dewey Burton, Roy Christian, J. D. Rodgers, Jake Burton, Andy Hinkle and Dr. J. M. Abney.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Louise McClendon; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. McClendon, of LaFayette; two brothers, Gaines and W. V., Jr., both of LaFayette; and one sister, Mrs. H. E. Newell, of Hilton Village, Va. Mr. McClendon was a member of the LaFayette Baptist Church and was a lifelong resident of this city.
