William Melching dies Friday morning
William Melching, 92, of Uniondale, died at 9 a.m. Friday at the Cooper rest home, Bluffton, following an extended illness.
Born in Markle, August 30, 1878, he was a son of William and Mary Stevens-Melching, and was married to Susie Sovine in 1905, who preceded him in death in 1923. He was then married to Bessie Reefe in 1924 and she passed away in 1951.
Surviving are one son, Edward T. Melching of Pleasant Mills; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Mazie) Cline of Saline, Mich.; and Mrs. Gladys Sowards of South Gate, Calif.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwin funeral home, Bluffton, with Rev. Wayne Baxter officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove cemetery.
