WELL KNOWN FARMER'S WIFE PASSES AWAY
Mrs. Wm. Broeker Laid to Rest Sunday.
Mary Lizabeth (Taeger), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taeger, was born in Burlington, Iowa, February 22, 1877. She was 50 years, 11 months and 11 days of age at the time of her death. At the age of eighteen she united with the German M. E. church at West Burlington.
On January 10, 1900, she was united in marriage to William Frederick Broeker. After marriage they lived in West Burlington for two years. They then moved to Canaan township in Henry county, where they lived for seven years, moving to their present home 19 years ago. To Mr. and Mrs. Broeker were born five children, Mrs. Clara M. Stout of Mt. Union; Albert W., Wallace E., Leora M. and Orville L., who are all at home.
Five years ago while attending to household duties her hand was caught in the washing machine resulting in a very severe accident.
Like the virtuous women of whom Solomon has written she looked well to her household; their care was her constant attention, and now as her earthly journey has come to a close her husband and children rise up and call her blessed.
For the last two months her health had been in a decline. With the hope that an operation might bring back her health, on February 2nd, she underwent an operation which revealed a condition far more serious than was anticipated. While she regained consciousness the strain was far more than she could overcome and at 12:15 after, midnight, on February 3rd (1928), she passed away at Burlington hospital.
Besides the immediate family she leaves to mourn her loss four brothers, Henry Taeger of Yarmouth, Fred W. and Ernest Taeger of West Burlington, and David Taeger of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. John Rutz of West Burlington, and Mrs. Ferdinand Fehseke of Burlington, and a great number of friends who will not forget her kindness, for she was always ready to help those who were in need, and Heaven will surely be her reward.
The funeral services were held at Trinity church, south of Mt. Union, Sunday afternoon. A brief service was conducted at the family home earlier in the afternoon. Reverend Stewart the deceased's pastor, conducted the service at the church. The interment was in Trinity cemetery.
Relatives called here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Taeger, Mr. and Mrs. David Taeger, Mr. and Mrs. John Rutz, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mrs. John Rutz, Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Fehesks, Fred Taeger and family, Mrs. H.
