Donna Jean Sedlacek

Donna Jean Rose Sedlacek, 81, Ontario, formerly of Vale, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009, following a long goodbye due to Alzheimer’s Disease.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Riverside Cemetery, Payette.

Donna was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Barnes, Kan., to Earl and Nora (Lewis) Rose. She joined 11 siblings and grew up in the Barnes area. Donna married Raymond Sedlacek on Nov. 6, 1947, in Concordia, Kan. To this union, five children were added. They farmed in Kansas for several years before moving to a farm near Vale in 1958. While raising her children, Donna also worked in town to help make ends meet. After the children were grown, they sold the farm and moved to Lakeview, Ore., to operate a motel and log truck business. Several years later, they retired and sold the business. They were able to travel, sightsee and visit friends and family in many parts of the country. Raymond liked to spend winters in Florida, but Donna missed the children and grandchildren so they moved back to Payette. Family was very important to Raymond and Donna. Following Raymond’s death in 1989, Donna still traveled to visit family scattered across Oregon.

Donna is survived by her children, Renea Sedlacek, and special friend, Larry Clark, of Prineville, Ore., Dianna and Jerry Alam, of LaGrande, Ore., Rhonda Bogle, of Payette, Peggy and Owen Janes, of Ontario, and Jim and Karen Sedlacek, of Lakeview, Ore.; one brother and sister-in-law, Merle and Julinda Rose, of California; a sister, Rozella Lewis, of New Mexico; one sister-in-law, Lucy Rose, of Kansas; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Raymond, a grandson, a great-grandson, her parents, seven brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
