Edward Hartnam, son of the late Samuel Issac and Mary Naomi Estep Hartman, was born on April 19, 1909 in Summersville, MO. He died in the Lucy Lee Hospital, Poplar Bluff, MO, on Sept. 8, 1994 at the age of 85. On March 12, 1929, Ed Hartman and Lucile Olmstead were married in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union six children were born. Lucile passed away Dec. 13, 1964, and four sons, George, John, Walter, and Philip preceded in death. Their two daughters, Doris Funk and husband, Stanley of Nampa, Idaho and Beverly Fisher and husband Ben of Chinook, survive. Also Philip's wife Cora and Ed's sister, Eunice Greathouse, Sarcoxie, Mo, a host of neices and nephews, and many friends. On April 2, 1970, married Pauline Carter Hast in Burnt Prairie, IL. Ed and Pauline moved to Carthage, MO, where they owned a car wash. They later moved to Piedmont where he resided at the time of his death. His wife, Pauline, a step son Duane Hast, and wife Barbara of Iuka, Idaho and daughter in law Ramona Hast of Carmi IL as well as 11 grandchildren, step grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren survive. Preceding in death were one stepson Doug Hast; seven brothers, Darrell, Clyde, Charles, Luke, George, John, and Ray; three sisters, Nellie Holland, Rosetta McKinney and Ora Mae Williams; one grandson, and one great grandson. Ed accepted Jesus as his savior and was baptized June 6, 1976 at the Patterson Baptist Church. He was a member of the Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church. Ed was a farmer most of his life and loved the hard work that came with doing a good job. He was well known for his tall tales and sense of humor. He leaves a great void that will never be filled. Funeral rites were conducted Sept 11 at the Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO., with Reveraend Gary Aubuchon officiating, Interment was at Burnt Prairie, IL on Sept 12.
