Kay was born to Albert and Anna Katterjohn. Kay was a First Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp. at Fort Sill, Okla., where she met First Lieutenant Robert Wheeler. They had two sons and one daughter.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, half-brother, Karl, and sister, Norma. She is survived by two sisters; and three children; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
