Ivan Turner 91 of Amarillo died Friday December 30, 2011.

Graveside services will be at 2 PM Tuesday in Dozier Cemetery in Dozier.

Mr. Turner was born March 14, 1920 in McLean to Katherine and Amos Ed Turner. He grew up in McLean and graduated from Alanreed High School. He served in the Army during World War II entering Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi on December 29, 1943. He was with the 120th General Hospital Unit and was a medic with the rank of corporal stationed in New Guinea and Luzon. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and three overseas service bars. He received an honorable discharge on February 23, 1946.

Mr. Turner married Willie Massey on October 26, 1952 in White Deer. He worked for Blackburn's Department Store and for the city of Amarillo as a bus driver from November 1966 to March 1982.

He was a member of Carolina Street Church of Christ in Amarillo.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Marilyn; four brothers Lonzo, Bill, Rush and Ed; and a nephew, Allan Turner.

Survivors include two brothers Joe and Vernon of Amarillo; a sister Auna Barnes of Fort Worth; a sister-in-law Winifred Turner of Pampa; 11 nieces: Sue Pocock of Brea, California, Jennifer Tomlinson of Crowley, Christina McCown of White Deer, Loretta Turner of Pampa, Nelda Webb of Bridgeport, JoAnn Boyd of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Glenda Carter of Woodway, Penny Barnes of Fort Worth, Kathy Jo Kennedy of Bangor, Pennsylvia., Sheila Johnson of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Carlene Massey of Lubbock; five nephews: Billy Turner of Pampa, Neil Turner of Rockwall, Dexter Turner of Plano, Gary Turner of Union, Missouri, and Bobby Massey of Joshua; a great-nephew Ryan Turner; a great-niece Katie Turner; numerous other great-nieces and great-nephews; and many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Viewing will be from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday at the funeral home.
