Known as Martin, the only child of Anders Peter "Andrew" Andersen (1856 - 1921) and his first wife, Martine Larsen Andersen. Martin's first family moved to the Pullman area of Chicago, where he was a farm laborer at age 17. Soon after, he joined other family members working for the Pullman Railway Car Company, as an electrician. About 1915 he married Josephine Steven. Their son Howard was born 1916 in Chicago, an only child. By 1942 Martin worked for the L. H. Gilmer Co. in Chicago. He died in 1947.
